The last 24 months have seen the "Boogie Boys" pivot from a whirlwind of varying musicians to a smaller footprint duo. In 2024, the duo played over 184 shows, and numerous booking agents have said about the BoHoss Boogie Boys -- "Without a question, one of the best duos in Sonoma County" -- and, they get better every day! With their electrifying blend of roots rock, blues, and soul, they've become a staple in the local music scene, drawing crowds with their undeniable chemistry and tight, raw sound. Whether it's a packed bar on a Thursday night or a laid-back Sunday afternoon gig, their performances resonate deeply with audiences, leaving them craving more. The duo's ability to connect with listeners—both on stage and off—has garnered them a loyal following, and with new material on the horizon, the future is looking brighter than ever for the Boogie Boys.
Singing and finger-picking on acoustic guitar is Byron Onisko. Byron was highly influenced by the late great John Cephas, who introduced him to the likes of Blind Boy Fuller, Big Bill Broonzy, and Doc Watson, among others. Byron's love for all styles of music is quite evident in their setlist—always diverse and always full of fun! Whether he’s laying down a soulful blues riff, picking out a rollicking folk tune, or sneaking in a classic country number, Byron's mastery of the guitar is nothing short of mesmerizing. His finger-picking style and emotive vocals bring a deep authenticity to every song, paying homage to his roots while keeping it fresh and modern. Whether he's leading the charge on a slow, heart-wrenching ballad or firing up a high-energy jam, Byron's stage presence brings an infectious energy that keeps audiences hooked from start to finish.
The other half of the duo is Matt Silva—perhaps the most exciting guitar player west of the Rockies. Silva cut his teeth playing jazz in Detroit. He has toured Europe numerous times, and the list of luminaries he's played with here in the States is inexhaustible. Silva's rhythm, melodic, and harmonic sensibilities are off the charts. His appetite for all things great is voracious—he is one intense dude! Whether he's laying down a searing solo, locking into an unstoppable groove, or weaving intricate harmonic textures, Silva plays with a fire and finesse that leave audiences spellbound. His sound is a deep well of tradition with a razor-sharp modern edge—always surprising, always electrifying. When Silva picks up a guitar, expect the unexpected. Every note tells a story, and he plays like he means every note.
